The Duffer Brothers acknowledge that the schedule for Stranger Things season 5 is still in flux, stating that a 2025 premiere date is still “quite the push.” The popular sci-fi horror mystery series Stranger Things will conclude on Netflix in 2025 with the release of season 5, which will consist of eight episodes. The year-long production plan, which started on January 8, 2024, and ended on December 20, 2024, shows how big the final episodes of the series will be. Its comeback also comes more than three years after season 4’s last episodes debuted on July 1, 2022.
Even though the release date for Stranger Things season 5 was previously confirmed, the Duffer brothers acknowledged in an interview with Variety that the 2025 release window isn’t final. Despite expectations of a release this year, Matt Duffer said the two will soon decide on a precise release date with Netflix, adding that it will be “quite the push.” Reflecting on the “tight” schedule for season 4, Ross Duffer expressed his hope that the latter episodes won’t be as busy. Below are the comments made by the series’ creators:
Matt Duffer: A lot of things, like the precise release dates and cadence, are still up in the air. That’s one of the reasons I’m not permitted to discuss it. In a few weeks, we’ll be speaking over the phone about it. I simply know that releasing it this year was crucial for both Netflix and us. However, even that is a significant push.
Ross Duffer: We’re trying to work as quickly as we can. We edited that extremely tight, even in Season 4. The day following the launch, we were bringing in visual effects shots! So maybe this year we’ll be a bit more on time.As we move closer to completing this, it’s simply like climbing up another hill.
