Despite its A-rating for violence, Unni Mukundan’s actioner Marco is setting new box office records for a Malayalam film. The film is on course to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film in North India after making Rs 50 Cr in less than a week.
According to industry trackers Sacnilk, Marco has already earned Rs 0.90 Cr in a week, while Manjummel Boys, the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever with a global box office receipt of around Rs 242 Cr, earned Rs 2.7 Cr in 50 days of its theatrical run.
Day 7 box office receipts for Marco show a decline
On Day 7, a Wednesday, Marco saw its largest decline in domestic box office receipts since its debut. Even yet, the movie earned Rs 2.5 Cr, which is a respectable sum for a violent action movie, especially one week after its premiere.
On December 20, the Hindi version of the gory, all-out action-thriller Unni Mukundan was released with the Malayalam original.
