Due to many legal infractions, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken decisive action and sealed the Islamabad Marriott Hotel. The CDA’s dedication to following the law and maintaining public safety is demonstrated by this important action. Serious accusations against the famous hotel in the centre of Islamabad vary from financial issues to non-compliance with building requirements.
A number of serious charges against the Islamabad Marriott Hotel are the basis for the CDA’s intervention.
No Certificate of Completion
The hotel is accused of operating without a completion certificate, which is an essential document that guarantees a building satisfies all safety and regulatory requirements. Since adherence to structural and safety rules cannot be ensured in the absence of this certificate, there are serious dangers to public safety.
Unauthorised Basement Use
The CDA claims that the hotel has been exploiting its basement for uses that are not permitted by the building plan. Unauthorised alterations and usage of areas can result in dangers, such as impaired structural integrity and fire hazards.
Green Belt encroachment
The hotel is charged with utilising the city’s green belt for parking, which is an infringement. In addition to breaking zoning regulations, these encroachments upset the biological balance of the city, harming public areas and the environment.
Failure to Pay Dues
The failure to pay dues of 160 million Pakistani Rupees is one of the most serious charges. According to the CDA, this is a major infraction that compromises the city’s ability to collect taxes and reflects financial non-compliance.
No person or organisation is above the law, the Capital Development Authority has reaffirmed. The Islamabad Marriott Hotel’s closure sends a clear message to other organisations that might think about evading the law. A CDA representative underlined how crucial it is to follow the law in order to protect public safety and preserve civic order.
The representative added that in order to establish a precedent, such measures are required. Institutions must abide by the law in order to prevent fines and other sanctions like sealing.
The hotel’s activities have been severely hampered by the sealing. The Marriott, one of Islamabad’s most well-known lodging facilities, welcomes both domestic and foreign visitors. The management may suffer significant financial losses as a result of the closure, while impacting workers and associated companies as well.
