“Finding would help to improve the nation’s hydrocarbon resources.”

On Tuesday, new oil and gas deposits were found in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Waziristan block.
Drilling at the Spanwam One well produced 20 barrels of crude oil and 12.96 million cubic feet of petrol per day, according to a statement from Mari Energies, the company running the block. On May 28, 2024, the well’s drilling activities got underway.
With a 55% ownership, Mari Energies operates the Waziristan block, with the remaining shares held in a joint venture by Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and OPI.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to exploring further and said the discovery would help improve the nation’s hydrocarbon resources. It also thanked the federal and provincial governments and national security agencies for their assistance in making the discovery possible.
