The most recent test flight of SpaceX’s Starship rocket from South Texas has been postponed once more.
According to SpaceX, Starship Flight 7 is now scheduled to launch on Thursday, January 16 at 4 p.m. CT from the company’s Starbase launch facility in Boca Chica.
We’re now aiming for Thursday, January 16 for Starship’s seventh flight test due to weather conditions’, SpaceX posted on social media platform X, which is also owned by tech billionaire CEO Elon Musk.
The most recent flight test of the tallest and most potent rocket in the world has experienced two delays. It was postponed from its initial January 13 launch date to January 15.
According to the corporation, a new generation spacecraft with major modifications will be launched in the next test. The launch and return of the rocket’s Super Heavy booster, as well as the Starship’s first payload deployment test, are among the mission’s goals.
The stacked Starship rocket and Super Heavy booster, which together measure almost 400 feet, successfully underwent a fuelling test, SpaceX announced on X on Friday, January 10.
Ahead of the seventh flight test, SpaceX tweeted, “Starship and Super Heavy loaded with nearly 11 million pounds of propellant in a launch rehearsal.”
How to attend the launch live
You can try to see the launch live if you live in South Texas or want to drive close to Starbase. Since SpaceX does not provide an official viewing place for its Starship test flights, viewers must locate their own watching locations.
A number of public beaches close to SpaceX’s Starbase location offer views of the Starship launchpad. Among these are South Padre Island, from which Isla Blanca Park and the Cameron County Amphitheatre offer unobstructed views of the launchpad. Another possible viewing location is the adjacent Port Isabel, but make careful to research possible locations beforehand.
Plan to come early because there may be a lot of traffic on the way to both locations.
South Texas beach and road closures
Cameron County road closures ought to be the same, albeit one day later. On launch day, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. CT, Boca Chica Beach and State Highway 4 between FM 1419 and the Boca Chica Beach entry will be closed, as previously declared by County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr.
On Highway 4, SpaceX and the county will set up two temporary checkpoints to create a safety zone perimeter. According to a news release for the original and alternate days, only authorised persons will be allowed past the checkpoints once the restriction is in place.
According to officials, anyone who wants to visit the beach during the shutdown period can do so on South Padre Island.
