America the Beautiful will be performed by the singer, and the villagers will “participate in inaugural activities.”
This month, country music artist Carrie Underwood will play at Donald Trump’s second inauguration.
The star will be in the lineup, a spokeswoman told Axios. America the Beautiful will be performed by Underwood, who became well-known after winning the fourth season of American Idol.
Despite being largely apolitical, the 41-year-old Oklahoma native has been outspoken about her views on animal abuse. In 2013, she spoke out against a bill in Tennessee that was perceived as a measure to make it more difficult for activists to document animal abuse and report it to the police.
In 2019, she told the Guardian, “I feel like more people try to pin me places politically.” Since no one wins, I try to avoid getting involved in politics as much as possible, at least in public. It’s insane. As if everything were all black and white, everyone attempts to summarise everything and tie a bow on it. And that isn’t the case.
She and Brad Paisley did make fun of Trump at the 2017 Country Music Awards with a musical parody. Trump’s Twitter behaviour at the time was referenced in a revised version of the hit song Before He Cheats, in which the duo sang: “It’s fun to watch, yeah, that’s for sure / ’til little Rocket Man starts a nuclear war.”
Inside Your Heaven, Jesus, Take the Wheel, and Cowboy Casanova are among Underwood’s hits, and she has received three Grammys. She recently performed alongside Ryan Seacrest on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
The Village People’s lead singer, Victor Willis, added that the group would “participate in inaugural activities,” which would include a meeting with Trump. A Facebook post stated, “We understand that this may not be to everyone’s taste, but we think that music should be performed regardless of political views.” “Our song, YMCA, is a national anthem that should help unite the nation following a turbulent and divisive campaign in which our candidate of choice lost.”
America’s Got Talent runner-up Jackie Evancho, Toby Keith, and the band 3 Doors Down performed at Trump’s 2017 inauguration, although supporters reacted negatively to their appearance. Chris Henderson, the guitarist, later defended it, calling it “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something for your country.”
Moby, Kiss, Idina Menzel, and Charlotte Church were among the celebrities that openly refused to perform.
Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and Katy Perry were among the celebrities who attended Biden’s 2021 event.
The date of the inauguration is January 20.
