Around 10 p.m., the US Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster plane touched down at Amritsar International Airport.

As part of the Donald Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigrants, a plane carrying 112 Indians who were deported from the United States for living there unlawfully landed in Amritsar on Sunday night. This is the third time the jet has arrived in ten days.
According to reports, the US Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster plane touched down at Amritsar International Airport at approximately 10:03 p.m.
The families of some of the deportees arrived at the airport to pick them up, and they include 31 from Punjab, 44 from Haryana, 33 from Gujarat, two from Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Once all immigration, verification, and background checks have been completed, the deportees will be permitted to return to their homes. According to the sources, plans have been made to take the deportees to their final location.
On February 5, 104 Indians were flown to Amritsar by a US military aircraft in the first round of deportations. On Saturday, a second aircraft with 116 Indians on board touched down.
People were shackled and restrained during the initial round of deportations, but they were released after they reached India. This action caused a political controversy in India and caused a commotion in both Houses of Parliament during the then-current Budget session. Those who returned on Saturday also made similar claims of mistreatment.
The Centre is working with the US to make sure the deportees are not abused, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said earlier in response to criticism. Additionally, he stated that the United States has been deporting illegal immigration for years and that this is not a recent occurrence.
India will repatriate any of its people who are illegally residing in the United States, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited the country earlier this week. However, he underlined that action must be taken to eradicate human trafficking.
“Our bigger fight is against that entire ecosystem, and we are confident that President Trump will fully cooperate with India in finishing this ecosystem,” stated the president.
“Enforcing our nation’s immigration laws is critically important to the national security and public safety of the United States,” the US Embassy in India argued. “It is the policy of the United States to faithfully execute the immigration laws against all inadmissible and removable aliens,” a representative for the embassy stated.
After Mexico and El Salvador, India is the third-largest source of undocumented immigrants in the United States.
The majority of Punjabi deportees previously stated that they hoped to come to the United States to provide a better life for their family, but their hopes were dashed when they were apprehended at the US border and returned in chains.
