A second round of negotiations between the US and Iran about Tehran’s nuclear program is scheduled to take place in Rome.

Prior to a second round of negotiations between Washington and Tehran about Iran’s nuclear program, Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with a number of Iranian officials.
The visit coincides with mounting concerns that a regional conflict may break out if diplomatic attempts to defuse the escalating tensions between the US and Iran are unsuccessful. President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Iran if it does not come to an agreement with the US regarding its nuclear-related activities.
During Thursday’s meeting in Tehran, Prince Khalid claimed to have sent along a message from King Salman of Saudi Arabia to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
He commented on X, “We discussed topics of mutual interest and our bilateral relations.”
During the meeting on Thursday, Khamenei was quoted by Iranian state media as saying, “We believe that the relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia is beneficial for both countries.”
Prince Khalid also met with Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff for Iran’s military forces, and President Masoud Pezeshkian.
