Concerns that the United States may turn away from Europe and side with Moscow are being heightened by statements made by Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance.

At the 2007 Munich annual security conference, Russian President Vladimir V. Putin stunned the audience by calling for a new balance of power in Europe that was more in line with Moscow’s interests and the reversal of the United States’ hegemonic hegemony.
Then, he didn’t obtain what he desired.
Top officials from President Trump’s cabinet stated unequivocally during the same conference nearly twenty years later: Mr. Putin has discovered an American administration that may help him fulfil his ambition.
Attendees expressed concern that under the incoming administration, the United States would join with Russia and attack Europe or leave it completely in response to remarks made by Vice President JD Vance and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Analysts claim that such a change would provide Mr. Putin with an unprecedented triumph that would be considerably more significant for him than any goals in Ukraine.
