RIYADH: In a phone conversation with the Kingdom’s crown prince, King Abdullah of Jordan praised Saudi Arabia’s resolute and pro-Palestinian stances.
The phone conversation between Jordan’s monarch and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Wednesday followed President Donald Trump’s Tuesday White House press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which Trump called for the evacuation of all Palestinians from Gaza so that the United States could occupy the destroyed territory and rebuild it for future generations.
“The United States will occupy the Gaza Strip, and we will also work there.” He declared at the meeting, “We’ll own it.”
According to the Saudi Press Agency, King Abdullah and Prince Mohammed talked about regional events and shared opinions on the most recent advancements and initiatives to bring about security and stability.
King Abdullah denied “any attempts” to seize Palestinian lands and drive out residents at a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas earlier on Wednesday.
Following Trump’s remarks, Saudi Arabia released a statement early on Wednesday reaffirming the Kingdom’s strong and uncompromising stance against the creation of a Palestinian state. Any “attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land” were condemned in the statement.
“Saudi Arabia will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel until it has achieved its goal of establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital,” the statement read.
As previously explained to both the past and current US administrations, “achieving lasting and just peace is impossible without the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate rights in accordance with international resolutions,” the statement continued.
