California’s Beverly Hills (AP) — With sporadic breaks for awards, the Golden Globes are a social event. Inside the crowded ballroom, celebrities are competing for seconds as they try to greet and hug as many people as they can before the cameras resume their worldwide broadcast.
With so many dinner tables, it’s a challenging space to manoeuvre around. Some decide to remain in one spot, such as Steve Martin, a stronghold on a heavily guarded, difficult-to-reach seat against a wall. Others, such as Andrew Scott and Luca Guadagnino, the director of “Challengers,” couldn’t seem to stay in their seats because there were too many entertaining people to talk to.
Nerves prior to the performance
With a relatively new group of voters, a wide-open field of contenders, and the first major awards event of the year, there was a certain anxious suspense in the air as everyone wondered how the evening would unfold.
A former Spider-Man A crowd of celebrities blocked the main floor stairs, trapping Andrew Garfield. Onlookers were raving about Zendaya’s new ring on her left hand when he gestured for her to “get going.” However, her burnt orange Louis Vuitton ballgown’s train was acting as a barrier in and of itself. Daniel Craig and Kate Winslet greeted each other, and Garfield rushed to the rescue after kissing Colman Domingo on the cheek and grabbing the rear of the train to help Zendaya climb the stairs.
Angelina Jolie and her daughter Zahara managed to navigate the chaos quite unperturbed. Miley Cyrus approached the “Baby Reindeer” group in another scene before settling into her rightful place next to Pamela Anderson and Gia Coppola.
